Hanoi and Ha Long Bay

This symbolic  term, well reflects the rich history and extremely interesting town of South – East Asia, the capital of the brave people of Vietnam, Hanoi. At one time Hanoi had many interesting and exotic-sounding names.   Hanoi, admittedly, is not a metropolis but  it is  city full of charm, colors, tradition and history.  Traffic, noise  of  fast flowing  stream  of passersby,  vendors inviting  to purchase their goods , the sounds of cars, motorcycles, scooters and all other motorized  type of vehicles  rushing to the sound of horns, indicates that this is a dynamic nation’s capital.

These typical beer gardens of Hanoi , after a day full of colorful, exotic experiences, enables  the instantaneous relaxation as well as time for reflection on the history of Vietnam, which Hanoi is a great example.  Smiles  of people of  Hanoi  , with friendly expressions  and  greeting “XIN CHAO” make one welcome in Hanoi .

A typical adventure in Hanoi usually starts from the old quarter in 1936-five street called “Old Quarters 36 Streets.” You can make attractive shopping here. Gifts for family, friends or for yourself. One can ,on the spot  just at the  curb of busy street ,  squatting on a chair, with lightning speed  , be  served with  delicious hot soup “PHO”.

A visit to the Mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum , being  homage to the father  of Vietnam Ho Chi Minh  ,  shows to Vietnamese people  our respect to unbelievable  “Uncle Ho”  , as he often is called in Vietnam .

Walk around  HOAN KIEM lake  , called also lake  of “restored sword” is a great opportunity for close contact with the people of Hanoi. With  a discrete “watching” them in moments of relaxation and fun  one can get a lot of knowledge about these great  people.

Splendid example of history and architecture of Hanoi is the “Temple of Literature.”  This building, which is the oldest University in Vietnam,  provides visitor with  inside  to  rich past of Vietnam .

Relatively recent, dramatic history presents to the visitor   building  of  “Hoa Lo”, prison   known as “Hilton” or “Maison Centrale”. Right here, the invaders of Vietnam  incarcerated  freedom fighters of  Vietnam. In this prison were also detained, “POW,” American prisoners of war in Vietnam. One of them was a U.S. Senator MacCain. As the pilot he was shot down over Vietnam and then imprisoned in a prison of  the “Hoa Lo.”

The Hanoi , attractive building of St Paul’s Cathedral , with its neo-Gothic structure of 1887 by  Monseigneur de Behaine Pigneau is a great place to relax  and reflect  in mood of  prayers  . The  Cathedral is part of a famous aspect of the city called the “French Quarter”, where the atmosphere, alleys, building villas resemble with its appearance  of “little Paris”.
